ORGANIZATION

The doctoral studies are organized in Rennes in the frame of six doctoral schools.
The doctoral schools are operational structures of the post-graduate studies. These doctoral schools are composed of laboratories or research units in a wide domain (for example, Science and technbologies of information and communications). Their size varies between 300 and 600 registered PhD students. Because the research units are generally common to several institutions (universities, engineers schools, research organisms), they are usually also common to the same institutions. There are managed by a director.
The college is the gahtering of the six doctoral schools. It is managed also by a director.
The doctoral schools related to University of Rennes 1 :
- Sciences de l'Homme des Organisations et de la Société (SHOS) - Human, orgnaization and Society sciences
- Mathématiques, Télécommunications, Informatique, Signal, Systèmes, Electronique (MATISSE)- Mathematics, Telecommunications, computer sciences, signal, systems, electronics
- Sciences de la Matière (SDLM)- Matter sciences
- Vie Agro Santé (VAS) - Life, agronomy and health sciences
The doctoral schools related to University of Rennes 2 (Haute Bretagne) :
The doctoral school college was created in order de develop the scientific cooperation and the partenrship between the academic institutions. The college is composed of :
- President of University of Rennes 1
- President of University of Rennes 2 Haute Bretagne
- Vice-President scientific council of University of Rennes 1
- Vice-President scientific council of University of Rennes 2 Haute Bretagne
- Directors of the six doctoral schools
- Scientific council representatives of the associated institutions(joint accreditation by the Ministry of High Education) INSA de Rennes, Agrocampus, ENSCR, ENS de Cachan (Antenne de Bretagne), ENST Bretagne, Supélec (Campus of Rennes)
- Director of the College of Doctoral schools
OBJECTIVES
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The objective of the college of doctoral schools is to promote the developping of activities and actions the doctoral schools have in charge, more especially in the field of scientific policy, students formation, preparation and evolution of the employability. It has to :
- contribute to develop tranversal research studies for the PhD students
- promote the European and international mobility of the PhD students
- promote the international co-tutorial studies with international partner institutions
- pool activities for the employability of doctors
- develop mutual complementary training for doctoral students
The coillege must be also a place for discussions and exchanges of ideas for set-in master degrees, more especially in the frame of partnership between the research units and the habilitated institutions.
